Besten,
Henk

Re: Cypriotische twijfelgevallen
lovely pictures... the first has characters from all over the affinity of Ophrys sphegodes ssp. mammosa. It is difficult to judge one single plant without a look at the nearby population of the species in question in these cases.
The 2nd one looks like Ophrys × battandieri (=O. fusca x O. lutea) but only in the case of a small flowered taxon of O. lutea being one parent (i.e. O. lutea ssp. galilea).
The 3rd is O. umbilicata ssp. umbilicata (the taxon usually known as O. attica, here's a picture of ''O. attica'' from the locus typicus: http://www.greekorchidsociety.org/greekorchids/g/1016 )
PS. names according to WCSF.

Re: Cypriotische twijfelgevallen
Dear Marios,
thank you very much for your reaction.
The first plant was only a single plant with these characteristics, and only very few other plants in bloom at this site (Souni, Cyrpus). These two plants were in the close proximity of the " mammosa" type.
As for the fusca/lutea type there were these other plants flowering in close proximity. (Agios Minas, Akamas, Cyprus)
kind regards
Henk

Re: Cypriotische twijfelgevallen
Dag Henk,
mijn suggesties:
Ophrys elegans x hystera.
Maar als iemand andere suggesties heeft, be my guest.

Re: Cypriotische twijfelgevallen
Dank voor de suggesties Rien,
jouw " rhodia" uitleg bevestigt mijn twijfel.
bv.

Re: Cypriotische twijfelgevallen
Henk,
deze planten zijn m.i. Ophrys umbilicata subsp. attica.
Dit oordeel heb ik vooral gebaseerd op:
deze planten zijn m.i. Ophrys umbilicata subsp. attica.

Re: Cypriotische twijfelgevallen
So, at the 1st post the 1st and 2nd plants where aberrant forms.
I am in the oppinion that the 1st is O. sphegodes ssp. mammosa, there are many Delforgian microspecies going around, I personally think that every Ophrys has its own character...
O. umbilicata ssp. rhodia has a central sepal that is not hooding the style that is the taxon's character. I see no difference from ''O. attica'' (=O. umbilicata ssp. umbilicata).
The O. omegaifera is very interesting but I can t see any details.
